Comcast confirmed that YouTube TV, the live TV package to be launched later this year by the Google-owned OTT video giant, won’t be included with the YouTube app that Comcast will launch on X1 set-tops later this year.

While YouTube TV and its lineup of live TV channels and a cloud DVR, won’t be part of that integration, X1 will tie-in access to the regular YouTube catalog, including content from YouTube Red subscription VOD service.

That’s not a huge surprise, considering that consumers with X1 already have a pay TV service from Comcast, so therefore likely won’t want or need the slimmed-down YouTube TV service, which will include a lineup of more than 40 channels, including access to local broadcast TV networks in some major markets early on.
But Comcast’s coming integration of Sling TV will allow access to the core Sling Blue and Sling Orange packages, though that agreement is focused primarily on providing X1 customers with access to Sling TV’s array of international TV packages.
