ABC Producer's Infant Has Anthrax
The seven-month-old boy of an ABC News producer has anthrax, ABC officials said Monday night.
The infant visited the network's headquarters for several hours Sept. 28. He
contracted cutaneous anthrax, which is the same form of the disease an NBC News
employee contracted, ABC News reported Tuesday morning.
Officials said they haven't found the source of the anthrax the infant
contracted. They believe he may have contracted it at ABC, since other media
outlets have been targeted. ABC said the infant is taking antibiotics and is
expected to fully recover.
New York Police commissioner Bernard Keric told ABC News investigators would
conduct environmental tests in the mailrooms at New York media outlets,
including Cable News Network, Fox News Channel, the Daily News and the
New York Post.
