A&E Television Networks account director Nani Shin-Wannemacher has won the 2004 "Bernice Coe Award," Oxygen Media, Multichannel News and Women in Cable & Telecommunications announced Monday.
Bernice Coe Staves was a member of the first governing board of WICT and one of the first women to head an independent film-distribution company.
Shin-Wannemacher is a 12-year cable-industry veteran. She serves on the boards of the Virginia Cable Television Association and the Mid-Atlantic Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing chapter. In addition, she helped to found the Virginia satellite chapter of WICT and serves as a mentor for several members of her department.
"Nani exemplifies the values that guided Bernice Coe’s life, and she is a worthy recipient of the 2004 Bernice Coe Award," WICT CEO Benita Fitzgerald Mosley said in a prepared statement.
"Nani is the kind of young person that Bernice sought out and championed -- smart, resourceful, eager to take the lead and supportive of those around her," Oxygen chairman and CEO Geraldine Laybourne added.
"On behalf of all of us at Multichannel News, we congratulate Nani on being the recipient of the Bernice Coe Award," Reed Television Group group publisher Chuck Bolkcom said. "We were delighted to see the quality of nominees who have made a difference in their companies and in the cable industry."
