AETN's Julie Simon Moves to Fox Networks
Cable veteran Julie Simon has been named senior vice president, advanced services, for Fox Networks Affiliate Sales and Marketing, reporting to Mike Hopkins, president of that group.Simon spent 10 years at HBO before moving to Time Warner Cable, where she last was VP of product management.
Between those jobs, she pursued a career as a singer/songwriter, and has demonstrated those talents at cable venues including CTAM and NCTA conventions.
In 2007 she went to AETN/Lifetime Television, where she was responsible for developing overall distribution strategy and negotiated distribution of advanced services.
At FN she will oversee day-to-day distribution activities for FN's advanced services including high-definition television (HDTV), interactive television (ITV), and video-on-demand (VOD).
She also will be responsible for developing FN's advanced services strategy for new applications, working closely with Fox Broadcasting and all Fox cable networks.
"Julie has demonstrated a strong ability to understand and navigate the continually shifting landscape of advanced services during her career," Hopkins said in a statement. "Her experience developing products on both the programming and operator sides of the business will help us maximize our increasing opportunities in this space."
