Amazon Greenlights Comedy Club-Themed Docuseries
Amazon will explore the comedy club scene with a new docuseries created in collaboration with the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival.
The six-episode, as-yet-titled docuseries will follow up-and-coming comedians in New York and Los Angeles as they compete to be selected for the New Faces showcase. The series will go inside the comedy clubs and into their lives, providing unprecedented access to the highs, lows, frustrations and successes that these aspiring comedians face as they juggle day jobs, relationships and hecklers in the quest for their biggest break, according to Amazon, which will stream the show on its Amazon Prime
The series was developed by Jimmy Fox (United Shades of America) who will also executive produce the show along with Neil Berkeley, Star Price and Bruce Hills, according to Amazon.
“The Montreal Just for Laughs Festival New Faces showcase is well known for introducing the next generation of comedy talent to the world,” said Heather Schuster, Head of Unscripted, Amazon Originals in a statement. “We are excited to collaborate with the Festival to bring Prime members an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the burgeoning careers of some future stars, which will be both very funny and very poignant.”
