AMC Acquires Off-Network Rights to 'CSI: Miami'

AMC Friday said it has acquired off-network rights to CBS drama series CSI: Miami.

The agreement -- which covers the first 10 seasons of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation spinoff series, as well as seasons 11 and 12, if CBS green-lights the additional campaigns -- is the first off-network acquisition for the basic- cable network, now known for such original drama series as Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Walking Dead.

AMC, which has the cable-syndication rights to air the show in fringe and primetime, will share CSI:Miami with A&E, which will continue to air encores of the David Caruso-starrer in daytime.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

AMC will begin stripping the show weeknights at 5 p.m., starting Jan. 2.

CSI: Miami is one of television's most powerful franchises, and AMC is proud to add it into our programming line-up," Tom Halleen, senior vice president of programming and scheduling at AMC, said in a release. "Dramatic storytelling is expressed at AMC through our library of celebrated films, award-winning original series, and now is further complemented through our first off-net series, CSI: Miami."
