AMC Crosses Rubicon With Series Series Order
AMC has greenlit the dramatic series Rubicon, ordering 13 one-hour episodes from Warner Hoizon Televison.
A conspiracy thriller, the series focuses on an analyst at a New York think tank, where nothing is as it appears to be and everything he thought about his career is now under question. The show comes from writer and executive producer Jason Horwtich (Pentagon Papers, Medical Investigation).
The show's cast includes James Badge Dale (The Departed), Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under, High Fidelity), Dallas Roberts (Walk the Line, The L Word), Jessica Collins (The Nine, CSI), Christopher Evan Welch (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Lauren Hodges (Law & Order), Paul Butler (The Insider, Reign Over Me) with Arliss Howard (Full Metal Jacket, The Sandlot) and Oscar-nominated actress Miranda Richardson (Sleepy Hollow).
"Rubicon is an incredibly compelling story that taps into the powerful concept of trust. Who can you trust in your own life? Do you trust the government and its relationship with the corporate world? These are questions we're all asking in light of current events and they have always presented a very potent formula for great drama," said Joel Stillerman, senior vice president of original programming, production and digital content for AMC.
Stillerman and other AMC executives can only hope Rubicon replicates the success of its first two original series. Retro advertising series Mad Men became the first basic-cable show to win the best drama Emmy, while Bryan Cranston took home the best actor statue for his portrayal of Walt White, a cancer-stricken high school chemistry teacher who turns to cooking crystal meth to support his family's future in Breaking Bad, which also won a Peabody.
