AMC Thursday tapped veteran television executive Susie Fitzgerald to head up the newly created position of senior vice president of scripted development.
Fitzgerald, who was most recently president of television at Josephson Entertainment which produces the Fox series Bones, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the network's current original scripted programs such as the Emmy award-winning drama series Mad Men. She will also be responsible for the development of new projects for the network.Based out of AMC's Los Angeles office, Fitzgerald will report to Joel
Stillerman, AMC's senior vice president of original programming,
production and digital content.
"Susie is a great creative executive who brings incredible
experience from the production and network side. She has a terrific
track record of working with both established and new talent, and she
truly understands what we are trying to do at AMC in terms of telling
the best stories on television," said Stillerman in a statement. "Her
talent for identifying and shaping great stories, her managerial
experience, and the fact that she is so well-respected in the industry
will make her a tremendous addition to our stellar team."
Prior to Josephson Entertainment, Fitzgerald served as the head of Darren Star Productions (ABC's Cashmere Mafia, CW's Runaway)
and before that served as co-head of Brad Grey Television where she
supervised the development and production of HBO's The Sopranos.
The appointment comes on the heels of Mad Men'srepeat Emmy win Sunday as television's best drama series and AMC's recent announcement of a full series order of original series, Rubicon.
