After the city of Los Angeles opted to sue cable provider Time Warner over poor service, officials in nearby Costa Mesa say they might follow suit.
The Daily Pilot newspaper reported Friday that the city attorney in Costa Mesa, Kimberly Hall Barlow, said she has asked for a copy of the L.A. lawsuit “so that I can assess if we need to pursue action of our own” because of service complaints in that community.
Time Warner acquired the local cable system from Comcast in 2006, according to the newspaper, and the city in February brought a Time Warner Cable representative to a city council meeting to address consumer complaints. The TWC official at that time blamed the problems on the transition from Comcast and said the situation was improving.
Time Warner Cable acquired Los Angeles systems from Adelphia and Comcast and claims the transition there was more difficult that the company had anticipated.
