Interactive programming guide and video recommendation specialist Rovi has hired former Arris executive Sean Matthews to the post of executive vice president, strategy and corporate development.
Matthews, who reports to CEO and president Tom Carson, will work closely with the executive leadership team at Rovi to spearhead market analyses and help to define long-term product vision for Rovi. Matthews will be based at Rovi’s corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif.
Prior to joining Rovi, Matthews was senior vice president of strategy and corporate development for Arris, and also served in leadership roles at Google and Motorola Mobility, including vice president of home and convergence strategy.
“Sean comes to Rovi at a time when his background and track record in corporate strategy, strategic partnerships, and investments is well suited to the opportunities before Rovi in our dynamic industry,” Carson said, in a statement.
Another former Arris and Motorola exec, John Burke, joined Rovi earlier this year as EVP and COO. Burke, who also reports to Carson, is based out of Rovi’s office in Radnor, Pa.
