Arbitron Extending PPM-Ratings Trial
By MCN Staff
published Arbitron Inc. announced Thursday that it is extending its Portable People
Meter ratings-comparison trial in Philadelphia through March 28, or an
additional three months.
The company is doing so because after a routine encoding-equipment upgrade in
late October, audio input to the PPM encoder at KYW-AM wasn't set to the proper
level, which may have affected ratings compilation for that station and
others.
Arbitron U.S. media president Owen Charlebois emphasized in a prepared
statement that this will not affect the timetable for the company's
response-rate test, slated for the first half of 2003, or its plan to build twin
consumer panels.
