BBC World News Gains Xfinity TV Homes In South
BBC World News, the BBC’s global 24-hour news channel, has become available to Xfinity TV customers across key Southern Comcast markets in the United States.
The channel has been added, in standard-definition format, to Comcast’s Digital Preferred Xfinity TV package in such metropolitan markets as: Atlanta (channel 100), Savannah (channel 100), Charleston (channel 100), Jackson (channel 90), Nashville (channel 95), Knoxville (channel 100), Chattanooga (channel 100) and Memphis (channel 95). Comcast first launched BBC World News in markets including Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston and Minneapolis in late 2011.
Jim Egan, Chief Executive Officer, BBC Global News Ltd, said in a release: “With correspondents in more countries than any other news broadcaster our journalists live and report the story first-hand from all corners of the world for our audiences here in the US and globally. We are delighted to be launching on Xfinity TV in the South and to bring our distinctive, comprehensive, unbiased and trusted news and analysis to new audiences.”

In the U.S, distribution of BBC World News has rapidly grown over the past two years, with the channel now reaching more than 27 million full-time homes. It’s available in New York City; Los Angeles; Chicago; Boston; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco and Seattle among major U.S. markets.
