Court TV chief operating officer Art Bell will leave the investigation network next week.
Bell resigned his post, effective Sept. 22, to pursue opportunities outside of the company, according to an e-mail Turner Broadcasting System president Mark Lazarus sent to Court TV personnel late Wednesday afternoon.
Bell could not be reached for comment.
Bell led the transition for Court TV during its integration into Turner following parent Time Warner’s purchase in May from Liberty Media of the one-half of the network it didn’t own
In his missive, Lazarus praised Bell for his “thoughtful, seasoned leadership,” as well as his “invaluable advice and perspective” to Turner in guiding Court TV through “this period of organizational and personal transition.”
Lazarus’ letter also said, “As we determine a new leadership structure for Court TV’s marketing and programming departments, [general manager of programming and marketing] Marc Juris and [executive vice president of Court TV News, the network’s daytime fare] Marlene Dann will continue in their respective roles, reporting to me.”
Over the past few months, many Court TV executives and staffers have lost their jobs as the network has been absorbed into the Turner fold.
Former chairman and CEO Henry Schleiff is now serving as the service’s nonexecutive chairman.
