BellSouth Corp. is turning to electronics giant Samsung Telecommunications America to back its drive to create new broadband devices for consumer and business customers.
Under an agreement struck between the two companies, BellSouth and Samsung will work throughout the balance of this year to create, market and co-brand broadband-enabled devices for voice, video and data applications.
Increasingly, these applications are converging on multifunction devices customers use inside and outside of the home.
"BellSouth and Samsung recognize that convergence is the future of our industries," BellSouth vice president of consumer devices and wireless Randy Roberts said. "We are excited about the potential to leverage the brand strength of both companies to provide our customers with simple, seamlessly integrated products."
