BigBand Upgrades Edge QAMs To 1 GHz
BigBand Networks has announced a new 1-GHz module for its BEQ6000 edge quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) video and data platform.
The enhanced edge QAM supports the delivery of switched digital video, video on demand, broadcast video and DOCSIS cable modem data in an RF frequency range from 54 MHz to 1 GHz. Previously, the highest-frequency module for the BEQ6000 supported up to 896 MHz.
Version 7 of BigBand's BEQ6000 RF Module is capable of two 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 block upconversions of either 64 QAM or 256 QAM signals.
The module can be used in an existing BEQ6000 chassis in parallel to other BigBand RF modules. Each 1.5-rack-unit-high chassis has six hot-swappable module slots.
BigBand said the 1-GHz modules are available now and that it is working with customers to deploy it. Cox Communications is among the MSOs using the BEQ6000 platform.
