Paul Crann, who last week resigned as BigBand Networks' senior vice president of product line management, has joined Canadian optical-networking equipment vendor BTI Systems.
Crann is now senior vice president of product marketing and business development for BTI Systems, the company confirmed. The privately held Ottawa, Ontario-based company sells packet optical equipment to service providers worldwide.
BTI declined to provide further comment.
BigBand is paying Crann $125,000 in severance and he is subject to a one-year noncompete clause, according to a BigBand 8-K filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
BigBand's product-line management functions are now being overseen by Rajive Dhar, senior vice president of corporate development and strategic planning, according to BigBand.
Crann joined BigBand in July 2006. Previously he was vice president of marketing and business development from 2005 to 2006 for Tatara Systems, a developer of converged mobile solutions. He also served as senior vice president of marketing and business development for Avici Systems, a core IP/ MPLS routing vendor, from 2000 to 2004.
Investors in BTI, founded in 2000, include Kodiak Venture Partners, Fujitsu Network Communications, BDC, Export Development Canada, GrowthWorks and VenGrowth Capital Partners.
