Bright House Names Amell VP Of Video Engineering
Bright House Networks hired Dick Amell, previously head of engineering for Time Warner Cable's National Division, as corporate vice president of video engineering and operations.
Amell will report to Jeff Chen, Bright House senior vice president of advanced technology.
"Dick is a highly experienced cable television engineering executive who brings with him a successful commitment to quality of service," Chen said in a statement. "We look forward to his leadership and his experience adding a whole new level to the Bright House Networks team."
Amell was previously vice president of engineering for TWC's National Division, managing engineering and technical operations cable systems in 19 states. He also served as vice president of engineering for Time Warner Cable's Atlanta National Division.
Earlier this year, Time Warner Cable eliminated the Denver-based National Division as part of consolidating its five operating divisions into two (East and West).
Prior to his 15 years with Time Warner Cable, Amell worked with MetroVision, where he started as a staff engineer in 1979 and was promoted to vice president of engineering in 1993.
Amell is currently an at-large national board member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers and will continue serving through 2012.
