BSkyB Gets Multiplayer Gaming
By Matt Stump
published Static 2358 Ltd., the gaming service on British Sky Broadcasting Group plc
systems, is adding a multiplayer capability to its popular 'East End Arrows'
game.
Viewers in Scotland, for instance, will be able to play TV darts against
players in London, the company said.
Static is a subsidiary of OpenTV Corp., and it offers its 'PlayJam' suite of
games to BSkyB's 5.7 million digital subscribers.
Static is using software developed by Pixel Technologies, and it hopes to
port the interactive-gaming component to other devices.
Separately, Buzztime Entertainment Inc. said it is licensing trivia games and
other content to MSNTV. MSNTV is Microsoft Corp.'s old WebTV
Networks.
