C-COR Pops VOD-in-the-Box

C-COR introduced a lower-end video-on-demand device, the n5C compact server, designed for operators with fewer than 16,000 subscribers.
The n5C, which supports both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 video, provides 1,500 hours of VOD storage and up to 960 simultaneous streams. The server is scheduled to be available for deployment by the end of the year.
"To stay competitive, small-market operators need to differentiate themselves with the latest video services and technology, but at a cost point that makes sense for the size of their markets," American Cable Association CEO Matthew M. Polka said.
C-COR did not announce pricing for the n5C.
