Cable One, Hearst Strike Retrans Pact
Hearst Television said it has reached a retransmission consent agreement with Cable One, avoiding a service disruption for its customers in six markets.
The deal involves six Hearst TV stations – KOCO (ABC) in Oklahoma, City; WVTM (NBC) in Birmingham, Ala.; KOAT (ABC) in Albuquerque; WDSU (NBC) in New Orleans; KETV (ABC) in Omaha; and WAPT (ABC) in Jackson, Miss. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hearst TV ‘s earlier agreement with Cable One was set to expire at midnight on Jan. 1, but the station owner granted Cable One an extension as it continued negotiations. As a result, there was no disruption in service for Cable One subscribers.
“We value the opportunity to work with distribution partners like Cable One to bring local investigative journalism, breaking news and weather coverage, and quality local and national programming to the widest audience possible in our markets,” said Hearst Television President Jordan Wertlieb in a statement.
