Keeping a National Show-eve tradition alive, Cable TV Pioneers welcomed its
newest inductees at its annual Pioneers Dinner Sunday night in Chicago.
The occasion marked the 37th annual dinner for Cable TV Pioneers, which
operates as a fellowship organization for industry veterans.
The class of 2003 honorees, listed alphabetically by last name, as
follows:
\u0007 Mother Angelica, Eternal Word Television Network's founder, chairman
emeritus and still nightly call-in host;
\u0007 Gary Arlen, president of Arlen Communications Inc. and Multichannel
News technology columnist;
\u0007 Gregory Armstrong, executive vice president, general manager for Liberty
Media Corp.'s Jupiter Telecom Ltd. subsidiary;
\u0007 Lela Cocoros, cofounder, partner of public-relations and outreach agency
October Strategies Inc.;
\u0007 W. Jay Dugan, former Communications Equity Associates senior executive, now
heading investment banker Dugan Independent Financial Advisers;
\u0007 Dwight Duke, marking 25 years with Scientific-Atlanta Inc., currently as
senior VP of transmission-network systems;
\u0007 Dean Gilbert, managing partner of Sandalwood Investments, following his
tenure with Excite@Home Corp.;
\u0007 Missy Goerner, senior consultant with Rogers Cable in Canada, more than two
decades after serving as their U.S. programming VP;
\u0007 Keith Hayes, a former cable-operator technical-operations director, now COO
for Gibson Technical Services;
\u0007 Mark Hess, Comcast Corp.'s VP of digital television, with past tenures at
Tele-Communications Inc. and Sega Channel;
\u0007 Irvine Hill, VP of public affairs for Cox Communications Inc.'s cable
systems in Virginia;
\u0007 Michael Jeffrey, cofounder, principal with strategic-affairs consultant
Robinson/Jeffrey Associates Inc.;
\u0007 Steven Lowe Sr., VP of the reconstituted Classic Cable, under CEQUEL III's
management;
\u0007 Donald Mitzner, former president of Group W Satellite Communications and
CBS Cable, now retired from the cable industry;
\u0007 Elizabeth Monigold, another executive serving at a reconstituted MSO as COO
of Buford Media Group;
\u0007 Charles Morris, one of cable's leading executive recruiters as owner,
president of Warren and Morris Ltd.;
\u0007 Patrick Murphy, nine years with Charter Communications Inc. as regional
engineering VP;
\u0007 Thomas Puckett, chairman of HPC Puckett and Co., who has spent his cable
career on small-system brokerage assignments;
\u0007 Dutch Robertson, president of Southern Sales Group Inc., previously with
Augat Communications;
\u0007 Robert Russo, The Cable Center's new president and CEO after more than two
decades with Daniels & Associates;
\u0007 Douglas Semon, now in his sixth year as Time Warner Cable's VP of
technology standards;
\u0007 Austin Shanfelter, president and CEO of cable-construction organization
MasTec Inc., his workplace since 1997;
\u0007 Joseph Taylor IV, Amstrong Group of Cos. Inc., Armstrong Utilities' go-to
person on Internet operations, involved with the MSO since 1996;

Cable TV Pioneers also conferred posthumous honors upon former Showtime
Networks Inc, CEO Tony Cox and CommScope Inc. regional sales manager Edward
Foust.
