Cable Television Laboratories Inc. announced Wednesday that it has OpenCable-certified a Samsung Electronics America Inc. integrated digital-TV set.
The Samsung set connects directly to cable systems and receives digital services without requiring set-top boxes.
The sets are interoperable on digital-cable systems throughout the United States and Canada.
"This CableCARD-enabled HDTV is the first of many OpenCable products Samsung will develop and launch in collaboration with CableLabs, cable operators and retailers," Samsung business-development manager Stephen Goldstein said in a release.
