CableLabs Certifies Six More DOCSIS 3.0 Devices
CableLabs has certified six additional customer premises devices for DOCSIS 3.0 -- the cable industry's next-generation broadband specification -- from Arris, Cisco Systems, Motorola, Netgear, SMC and Thomson in certification wave 76 last month.
The products are: Arris' Touchstone Telephony Gateway TG852G; Cisco's DPQ3925 wireless residential gateway; Motorola's SBV6240 SurfBoard voice modem; Netgear's CG3000X wireless residential gateway; SMC's SMCD3CMB cable modem; and Thomson's DHG576 gateway.
"DOCSIS 3.0 certification is a key step in bringing to market an IP gateway EMTA [embedded multimedia terminal adapter] that meets the stringent requirements of service providers," Derek Elder, senior vice president of Arris' Broadband Communications Systems group, said in a statement. "Reliability and Wi-Fi performance are key to MSOs managing their operating expenses as they launch these new advanced services."
