Cablevision Adds Local Digital Feeds
As part of a retransmission-consent deal, Cablevision Systems Corp. this week will start carrying the digital signal of WPIX-TV, a Tribune Broadcasting The WB Television Network affiliate in New York City, officials said Thursday.
The agreement also includes Cablevision’s carriage of the digital signals of Tribune’s WTIC, a Fox affiliate in Hartford, Conn., as well as WPHL, a WB affiliate in Philadelphia, and WTXX, a WB affiliate in Hartford, Conn., in their respective markets.
The stations’ digital signals will be available to Cablevision’s iO: Interactive Optimum digital-cable subscribers in their local markets.
WPIX-DT -- or The WB11-HD, as it will be called -- will be seen on Channel 711 on most New York iO systems. It is a real-time digital feed of the entire WPIX broadcast day. Many of its programs -- including The WB’s primetime lineup and New York Mets Major League Baseball home games -- are available in HDTV.
Cablevision is the second major cable operator in the New York metro area to offer The WB11-HD, with Comcast Corp. already carrying it in parts of New Jersey. RCN Corp. is expected to offering the digital signal in New York City soon.
