Cablevision Beefs Up ‘Optimum Voice’

Cablevision Systems Corp. has enhanced its “Optimum Voice” product, adding a host of new features at no extra charge.

Cablevision -- which counted some 480,000 customer to its voice-over-Internet-protocol service as of June 30 -- is now making “VIP Ringing” available, in which up to 32 designated telephone numbers can be identified by a distinct ring tone.

The “Find Me” feature can route incoming calls to up to four designated locations, while the “Call Waiting on Caller ID” function reveals the name and number of incoming calls.

“Anonymous Calling” enables customers to block personal information on outgoing calls to protect privacy. Conversely, the “Anonymous Call Blocker” rejects incoming calls from numbers marked private or anonymous.

The “Busy Redial” component will continue to dial a number for up to 30 minutes.

Optimum Voice’s redesigned Web portal (www.optimumvoice.com) provides a new dashboard interface with a summary of available functions and the activation status of each. “Flash Tutorials” offer customers helpful videos to learn more about the service’s array of features.

The MSO charges subscribers $34.95 per month for Optimum Voice.
