News Corp. managed to bury an intriguing piracy case that saw its NDS Group
plc unit accused of helping to flood the market with illegal cards that allowed
viewers to steal signals from Vivendi Universal's Canal Plus S.A. unit and other
satellite companies.
The suit was dropped after News Corp. and Telecom Italia completed the
acquisition of Vivendi's Telepiu satellite platform.
