Cancer Claims Turner’s Ward
Walter Ward, director of communications for Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves, died May 8 following a long battle with cancer, Turner Broadcasting System Inc. said Tuesday.
The 42-year-old Ward had been with Turner since 1996, and was the former director of public relations for Turner Network Television and TBS Superstation.
Prior to his stint at Turner, Ward worked for Showtime Networks Inc. in Los Angeles and had handled personal and event publicity clients for PR shops Baker/Winokur/Ryder and Michael Levine Public Relations, both in Los Angeles.
He held a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wake Forest University.
Donations in Ward’s memory can be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or the University of Texas Medical Center, both in Houston, Texas.
