CBS Extends Amazon Prime Deal

CBS said Wednesday that it has extended and renewed its content licensing agreement with Amazon.com’s Amazon Prime Instant Video to include additional series from its CBS Television Distribution and Showtime Networks libraries.

CBS had reached earlier content licensing deals with the Amazon streaming video service for individual series such as The Good Wife, mini-series Under the Dome and the upcoming Stephen Spielberg drama series Extant.

“We are very pleased to continue expanding our partnership with Amazon,” said CBS Chief Corporate Licensing Offer Scott Koondel in a statement. “CBS content is clearly a great match with Prime Instant Video’s growing user base.”

With this agreement, Prime Instant Video customers will continue to get CBS and Showtime series such as Medium, The Tudors, the complete Star Trek franchise, I Love Lucy and others – as well as new titles such as Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, Penn & Teller and Vegas.  All programming will stream in Prime Instant Video commercial-free at no additional cost on Kindle Fire HD, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation and Wii, among other devices. The Prime Instant Video library now features more than 40,000 movies and TV episodes, including Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Downton Abbey, Fringe and The West Wing.
