By MCN Staff
published Charter Communications Inc. will use Nortel Networks Corp.’s voice-over-Internet-protocol gear in its Midwest and Great Lakes operating divisions, the MSO announced Tuesday.
The MSO also said it intends to test Nortel’s “Multimedia Communication Server 5200,” which gives both residential and business customers access to multimedia services independent of location.
Charter said its new VoIP architecture will include the capability to communicate between a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) server and a PacketCable-qualified call-management server, bringing SIP-based features to a PacketCable environment.
