Charter Communications Inc. has signed an agreement with Discovery
Communications Inc. to launch Discovery HD Theater in a number of markets this
year, according to officials at both companies.
Discovery said its platform would bow in Charter markets offering
high-definition-TV packages before year's end. A Charter spokesman said the MSO
currently offers HDTV programming in Alhambra/Pasadena and Glendale/Burbank,
Calif.; University Park/Highland Park, Texas; Miami; and Birmingham, Ala.
Consumer pricing, rollout dates and deal terms were not
disclosed.
