Cisco Systems Inc. has purchased Sipura Technology Inc., a provider of consumer voice-over-Internet-protocol technology, for $68 million in cash.
Sipura will fall under Cisco's Linksys division, which already uses some Sipura gear in its VoIP-networking devices.
"VoIP is a strategic segment for innovation and growth for Cisco and Linksys," Cisco chief technology officer and Cisco-Linksys president Charles Giancarlo said in a prepared statement.
