Cisco Names New CTO, Chief Digital Officer

In his first day as CEO of Cisco Systems, Chuck Robbins announced the appointments of two top execs -- Zorawar Biri Singh as senior vice president and chief technology officer, platforms and solutions; and Kevin Bandy as SVP and chief digital officer.

Robbins, named the successor of long-time  Cisco CEO John Chambers in May, made the announcement Monday in a blog post that touched on the company’s “next chapter” and how he expects the company to accelerate its “leadership in the digital age.”

“In the digital world, data – and the insights from that data – will be the most strategic asset,” Robbins wrote. “It will be distributed across every part of our customers’ organizations and ecosystems. The ability to secure, aggregate, automate, and draw insights from the data – with speed – will ultimately define success.”

Singh, who succeeds former CTO and chief strategy officer Padmasree Warrior, previously was a venture partner at Khosla Ventures and is late of Hewlett Packard, IBM and Nortel Networks.  He has also served as CEO of a number of startups, including Pivia, an app delivery company later acquired by F5 Networks, and Idapta, a B2B player, and RelevantKnowledgeMedia Matrix, an ad tech company that’s now part of comScore.

Bandy most recently was SVP, enterprise transformation at Salesforce.com, and, prior to that, was the principle of Rhea Springs LLC, a strategy consultancy firm, and was with Accenture and IBM. Bandy lives in Atlanta, and is relocating to San Jose.
