CN8 to Track Elections

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m., CN8, The Comcast Network will air live election-night coverage.

The network will cover races it deems important to regional audiences from Maine to Virginia and Washington, D.C. Coverage will be led by network political director Lynn Doyle and will involve analysis and live reports from various campaign headquarters, including New Jersey’s Kean/Menendez; Pennsylvania’s Rendell/Swann and Santorum/Casey; and Virginia’s Allen/Webb.

CN8 also offers more than 500 “Candidates On Demand” interviews -- available in the Get Local category to Comcast Digital Cable subscribers -- with contenders for more than 350 regional gubernatorial, senate, house and mayoral races (www.multichannel.com/article/CA6383076.html).

“Regional political programming has been the hallmark of CN8 since its inception and, with our recent expansion into Washington, Virginia, Maryland and Vermont, we offer a unique focus unavailable on any other broadcast or cable network,” Doyle said. “In this significant election year that could impact the congressional balance of power, CN8 delivers exclusive, uninterrupted coverage of the political battles most likely to effect our viewers.”

CN8's 2006 election-night lineup, streaming concurrently on the network’s Web site (www.cn8.tv), will include:

Money Matters Today, 7 p.m.-7:30 p.m., during which Mary Caraccioli, CN8 director of business and consumer news, will lead a round-table discussion of the election's business-related issues and examine how politicians can use their campaign war chests once results are tallied.

Art Fennell Reports, 7:30 p.m.-8 p.m., with anchor Art Fennell leading the AFR on-air team to review key races in battleground states, explore issues heating up campaigns and go behind the scenes of harsh political advertisements.

Election 2006, 8 p.m.-on, during which six-time Emmy Award-winner Doyle will track up-to-the minute results, provide breaking news and key in on relevant political contests in the region, including the Pennsylvania, Maryland and Massachusetts gubernatorial races; the U.S. Senate elections in New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania; and the Vermont gubernatorial race, which coincides with CN8's Nov. 7 Vermont launch.

From her command post in CN8's Philadelphia studios, Doyle will check in with the network's in-the-field team of anchors and reporters -- including Greg Coy, Kevin Walsh, Sarah Zapp, Emily Ryan, Jam Sardar and Joe Bisicchia -- to learn what's happening live from campaign headquarters.

Political experts will join in from studio locations in the Baltimore, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., areas.

Doyle and her team will also report on key races around the nation, such as the Ohio congressional and gubernatorial elections and the California gubernatorial race, airing live to track votes until winners are announced.
