CNN Shuffles Management, Cancels Greenfield
New Cable News Network CEO Walter Issacson continues to shuffle both
management and programming.
On Monday, Isaacson promoted CNN general manager Sid Bedingfield into a newly
created CNN News Group executive editor position, also promoting CNN Headline
News GM Teya Ryan to GM of CNN's domestic flagship.
Ryan made her mark at Headline last year by gutting the talent roster, hiring
former NYPD Blue actress Andrea Thompson as a primetime anchor and
encouraging on-air banter between anchors, a la local newscasts.
CNN en Español president Rolando Santos will replace Ryan at Headline.
The executive changes came a few days after CNN canceled Jeff Greenfield
at Large, replacing the 11 p.m. program with a Crossfire repeat.
Greenfield's program averaged a 0.5 Nielsen Media Research rating and 387,000
households in January.
