CNN's Agvent Named to FAA Drone Committee
Greg Agvent, senior director of national newsgathering technology for CNN, has been named to the Drone Advisory Committee for the FAA's Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA).
The committee will meet at least three times a year to talk about integarting the unammed aircraft systems (UAS) inton "the world's busiest and most complicated airspace."
Led by Agvent, CNN just two weeks ago launched a drone unit with two full-time operators to work the images gleaned from the devices into CNN networks and platforms, as well as for co-owned Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner.
The FAA's new drone rules took effect Monday (Aug. 29).
