Comcast: 44% of Video on College Campuses Watched Live
Revealing key video consumption trends by young adults, Comcast said that 44% of TV usage on its Xfinity on Campus platform revolves around live programming.
Culling data from more than 130 campuses, Comcast said that 37% of viewing is of video on demand and 19% is of DVR-recorded programming.
Students prefer viewing on laptops as opposed to mobile devices, the operator said, and peak viewing hours occur during Thursday and Sunday primetime.
Live sports programs are most popular, including the NBA and NFL playoffs, the Winter Olympics and NCAA March Madness tournament.
The most popular non-sports shows viewed live include This is Us,Grey’s Anatomy, The Bachelor, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Riverdale, The Good Doctor, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Grown-ish, Modern Family and Law & Order: SVU.
