Comcast has launched Ovation HD in Nashville, Tenn., the programmer said. Since July 29, the high-definition version of the arts culture network has been on channel 1345, joining its standard-definition counterpart (channel 172) on the Comcast system.
"Nashville joins a growing list of cities around the country that have launched Ovation in both standard and high definition," Ovation distribution SVP Ellen Schned said in a release. "There's no doubt that this programming is particularly well-suited to HD. The arts are even more spectacular in 1080i resolution. We're thrilled that Comcast continues to support our efforts to make the arts available to every household in America."
Ovation is gearing up for the launch of So You Think You Can Dance on Friday (Aug. 5). Ovation is featuring season six of Fox's popular dance competition with added extras that include interviews with the dancers, choreographers and judges talking about their experiences of being on the show.
Ovation HD launched in fall 2010 and its other markets include Comcast's Chicago and Boston systems and Time Warner Cable's New York City system.
The standard-definition channel reaches 44 million households
