Comcast Adds Six Hispanic Channels
Comcast this month will add six new channels aimed at Hispanic viewers, as well ass both the East Coast and West Coast feeds of broadcast networks Telemundo, Univision and UniMás (formerly Telefutura.)
With the addition of BabyFirst TV Americas Español, beIN Sport Español, Centroamérica TV, Latin America Sports, Pasiones and Vme Kids, Philadelphia-based Comcast said it has now more than doubled its Hispanic offering both online and on TV.
Also this month, on Dec. 12, the company launched its “Latino Entertainment Channel,” an on-screen guide of what’s avaolable on Xfinity Latino.
“This is the first ever branded Spanish-language channel in the industry dedicated to helping customers navigate through programming, see what’s on-demand and overall on all our Hispanic channels,” Rubén Mendiola, vice president and general manager of multicultural video services for Comcast, said. Mendiola prefers not to call the channel a “guide,” since it offers other features such as how-to video tutorials, recommendations of VOD content available on TV and online and primetime coverage of special events.
With the new additions, Xfinity Latino’s most comprehensive package, MultiLatino Ultra, includes more than 160 English- and Spanish-language channels for $66.90 a month for the first 12 months.
