Comedy Central Brings Back ‘The Gong Show’
Comedy Central Wednesday announced The Gong Show with Dave Attell, will premiere Thursday, July 17 at 10 p.m. ET on the all-comedy network.
Executive produced by Doug Robinson of Happy Madison Productions and Andrew Golder (Identity, Win Ben Stein’s Money) in association with Sony Pictures Television, The Gong Show with Dave Attell will showcase seven to 10 “off-beat and diverse acts” judged by a panel of three celebrity judges.
At the end of each show, the act with the highest score will be crowned the winner. The series premiere features Brian Posehn, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Steve Schirripa.
Throughout the season, the likes of Adam Carolla, Kate Walsh, Andy Dick, Ron White, Dave Navarro, Greg Giraldo, Jim Norton and JB Smoove will serve as celebrity judges.
Dave Attell (pictured), a comedian who for four years has served as the host of Comedy Central’s Insomniac with Dave Attell, will reprise Chuck Barris’ role as host of the wacky talent competition. Named one of the “25 Funniest People in America” by Entertainment Weekly, also hosted a two-hour network special featuring Sean Rouse, Greg Giraldo and Dane Cook in Las Vegas.
