Conexant Systems Inc. has unveiled a new MPEG-2 (Moving Picture Expert Group) audio/video encoder for consumer-electronics products, including media centers, entertainment PCs, set-top boxes, digital-TV sets, DVDs and DVRs.
Conexant said the new encoder reduces bill-of-material costs for manufacturers with its single-chip design.
The device is priced at $20 in quantities of 10,000.
