Contec Expands Mexico Set-Top Operations
Contec Holdings, a major provider of cable set-top repair services, opened an expanded 240,000-square-foot service facility in Matamoros, Mexico, in January.
The new facility provides twice the capacity for servicing Motorola set-top boxes, compared with its previous location in Matamoros, which bowed in 2002. Contec also has more space to service Cisco Systems/Scientific Atlanta, Pace, Samsung Electronics and Panasonic set-tops.
Contec customers include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Cablevision Systems, Charter Communications, Rogers Communications and Shaw.
Headquartered in Schenectady, N.Y., Contec operates repair locations in Seattle, Mexico City and Matamoros.
The privately held company, founded in 1978 and currently with 2,400 employees, handles more than 360 different types of set-top boxes, and also provides modem and satellite receiver repairs, set-top refurbishment, and custom remote control manufacturing.
