Cox Names Jill Campbell COO
Cox Communications said Tuesday it has named long-time executive Jill Campbell chief operating officer, replacing Leo Brennan, who will retire in May.
Campbell most recently served as senior vice president of field operations for the MSO.
In her new role, she will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring companywide alignment with competitive strategies to enhance marketplace execution and service delivery to Cox's six million customers. Campbell will manage field operations, customer experience, marketing, sales and public affairs.
Campbell joined Cox in 1982 as director of communications in Oklahoma, and was named Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) National Woman of the Year in 2008. Multichannel News named Campbell a Wonder Woman in 2002.
"Jill will play a key role in positioning Cox for continued marketplace success. A 29-year Cox veteran, Jill brings a diverse set of leadership skills, extensive operations expertise and a successful track record that we will leverage across the company," said Cox president Pat Esser in a statement.
Brennan, a 28-year Cox veteran, will retire in May after assisting with the leadership transition.
In his time at Cox, Brennan has served in various roles including vice president and general manager of Cox Las Vegas, and general manager of Cox's Orange County, Calif. system, where he oversaw the launch of the cable industry's first triple play bundle of digital video, Internet and telephone service over a single network platform.

"Leo's passion, leadership and counsel at Cox have been invaluable," Esser said in a statement. "We are thankful for the many contributions he has made to this company and the industry."
Cox named Alexander Taylor to take over Campbell's former position as senior vice president of field operations. Taylor will be responsible for all of Cox's field operations and the related Atlanta division support teams. Taylor has previously served as executive vice president for Cox Media Group, whci is owned by Cox Communications' parent company, Cox Enterprises.
"Alex has helped Cox Media Group successfully navigate significant changes in the news business and is well-prepared to provide senior leadership as Cox Communications continually shifts operations to more effectively serve customers in a competitive marketplace," said Jill Campbell, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Cox Communications.
Cox also said executive vice president and chief financial officer Mark Bowser will expand his responsibilities to include oversight of Cox Business and Cox Media operations, two of the company's largest growth opportunities.
