Dennler Appointed Nielsen Entertainment President
Bruce Dennler was named president of Nielsen Entertainment, a major provider of market intelligence to the entertainment industry, officials said Monday.
Previously Dennler had been president and chief operating officer of Palisades MediaGroup, an entertainment-based media services company based in Los Angeles.
As president of Nielsen Entertainment, Dennler will be responsible for all aspects of the organization’s operations, including measurement of the film, home entertainment, music, interactive, book and live event sectors. He will be based in Los Angeles and will report to Dave Thomas, Nielsen’s President of Media Client Services.
Dennler’s appointment brings together Nielsen Entertainment’s West Coast operations, headed by Howard Ballon, president of Nielsen Film and Home Entertainment, with the units headed by Rob Sisco, president of Nielsen Music and COO of Nielsen Entertainment East Coast Operations.
Nielsen Entertainment’s main businesses include National Research Group, EDI and EDI International, Television and On Demand Services, SoundScan, Broadcast Data Systems, Music Control, VideoScan, Market Navigator, BookScan, BookData, and Interactive Entertainment.
Dennler has served at Palisades MediaGroup since 2005. Prior to joining Palisades, he was executive vice president and director of planning for Carat North America and also sat as interim President of Carat USA.
He was also a leading member of Carat’s Global Product Leadership Team and Aegis Product Lab. During that time – from 1998 to 2005 – Carat made generating insights through the application of research tools the core of its business and grew from less than $1 billion to over $6 billion in U.S. media billings.
