published Washington — DirecTV Group Inc. might have to pay an $87,500 fine to the U.S. Treasury for repositioning a satellite without permission from the Federal Communications Commission, the agency said Friday.
In a statement, the FCC said “strict adherence to the rules governing modification of satellite authorizations is critical to minimizing the risk of collisions between satellites.”
The FCC issued a notice of apparent liability, which DirecTV may contest.
