DirecTV Pirate Fined $1M

published DirecTV Inc. said Tuesday that it won a $1 million judgment against Li Sang,
a Westfield, Ind., man who trafficked in illegal smart cards for DirecTV
direct-broadcast satellite receivers.
The company said more than $4.6 million in contraband was seized during a
raid of several defendants in California, Texas and Florida.
Sang sold the illegal smart cards over the Internet through a business called
Smart Card Solutions.
'This man lost his house and now has a healthy dent in his bank account as a
result of his illegal activities,' DirecTV vice president of signal integrity
Larry Rissler said in a press release.
