DirecTV Recovers From Outage
DirecTV has recovered from an outage that caused several national channels to go down for a few hours earlier in the day.
DirecTV’s service handle tweeted about the outage about four hours ago, noting that “[m]ultiple channels are experiencing loss of audio and video. We’re working to restore your service. Thanks for your patience.”
About an hour ago, the same Twitter account relayed that it was in the process of confirming that all channels had been restored, and then told Deadline that all channels had been restored.
MarketWatch said the problem was due to a “sun transit outage” that’s triggered when satellite links are with the sun, causing interference.
Update: MarketWatch corrected that account, reporting later that the outage was due to a technical issue on the ground.
