DirecTV Inc. is buying MPEG-4 (Moving Picture Expert Group) encoders from Harmonic Inc. for its new MPEG-4 local-channel service.
Harmonic will supply its “DiviCom MV 100” standard-definition encoder, which includes the “DiviTrackXE” statistical-multiplexing solution and “NMX” digital-service manager.
