Discovery Forms Tech Unit

Discovery Communications Inc. has merged its information-technology and media-services units.

Diane Duggan has been promoted to executive vice president of the newly formed business unit, Discovery Technology and Media Services. Duggan had been executive VP and chief information officer, IT.

“I believe that this restructuring is necessary for Discovery to successfully address seismic trends in our business, such as the increasing convergence between traditional information technology and traditional television technology and the emergence of new business models, such as high-definition and video-on-demand,” Discovery senior executive VP of corporate operations and general counsel Mark Hollinger said in a prepared statement.
