Dish Network shook up its senior management late Monday, naming former AT&T executive Robert Olson as its new chief financial officer and bumping up former CFO Bernard Han and executive vice president Thomas Cullen to new roles.
Olson was most recently CFO at Trane Commercial Systems, the largest operating division of American Standard. He was previously CFO of AT&T Consumer Services division and later its Business Services division.
Han, who was named Dish CFO in September 2006, assumes the new role of chief operating officer, in charge of operations, information technologies and finance functions. Han remains CFO at EchoStar Corp. the equipment arm that was created in the formal split of EchoStar Communications in 2008.
Cullen has been executive vice president of corporate development at Dish since December 2006. According to a statement, effective April 27 Cullen will oversee all of Dish Network's sales and marketing functions, in addition to his existing management of programming operations.
Olson will report to Han in his new position. Han and Cullen will report directly to Dish Network chairman and CEO Charles Ergen.
"The management changes announced today recognize the contributions that Bernie and Tom have made and express my confidence in them to lead Dish Network's efforts to improve subscriber growth and customer satisfaction," Ergen said in a statement.
Dish Network has run into trouble during the past few quarters - it reported its first ever quarterly subscriber loss in the second quarter and finished the year down 102,000 customers.
The second largest satellite TV service provider also lost its distribution agreement with AT&T to rival DirecTV at the end of 2008, which many analysts believed would increase subscriber losses in 2009. Dish is scheduled to report first0quarter results on May 11.
