FCC Hits Fox Stations with $1.1M Indecency Fine
The Federal Communications Commission said Tuesday that it was proposing to fine Fox Television Network affiliates a combined $1.1 million for violating indecency rules with the April 2003 broadcast of the show Married by America.
The FCC proposed $7,000 fines apiece for 25 owned-and-operated Fox stations and 144 affiliates for airing the broadcast, which included “depictions of sexual activity” that were “patently offensive.”
TV stations are barred from airing indecent programming from 6 a.m.-10 p.m., when children are expected to be in the viewing audience.
